Meals and Community Support Centre
During the Covid-19 pandemic we have made some changes to our meal service to protect our clients, staff and volunteers:
- Take away breakfasts from 7:30am
- Take away lunches from 11:45am
- Lunches by gold coin donation
Having a daily meal and simple conversation around the dining table is a luxury that so many of us take for granted.
At St Patrick’s, our dedicated staff and team of volunteers work around-the-clock to provide healthy and nutritious meals Monday to Friday throughout the year.
Our first contact with a client is often through our meals program. Located in our Day Centre, St Patrick’s provides free daily breakfasts and subsidised lunches in our client dining room. We also have a self-serve café style courtyard, movie room, billiards, computer centre and library.
Our clients enjoy dropping in to the Day Centre. It provides an opportunity to foster open communications and build trust. In turn, our clients are able to interact with others in a similar situation and experience a sense of place and belonging in a relaxed and non-threatening environment.
For a number of reasons, many people are not prepared or able to engage with the mainstream community. These could include the fact that clients have no fixed address, no identification papers, bank details, transport, or money.
Our Day Centre also provides emergency relief services including: food hampers, showers, clean towels, toiletries and clothing for those who find themselves with nowhere else to go.
Crisis short-term accommodation is also available, as are opportunities for transitional ‘rented’ accommodation options through our housing services.
From this strong foundation of trust and unconditional support – we provide our services through a personalised and tailored approach to help build confidence, maintain dignity, promote independence and help people move forward in the right direction.
