 Long Table Dinner makes $85,000!

The annual Fremantle Long Table Dinner was another resounding success this year with over $85,000 raised for homeless and vulnerable people.  800 people dined at a VERY long table that ran most of the length of High Street in Fremantle’s historic West end.  The sold-out event was the initiative of the National Hotel’s Karl Bullers and co-hosted by St. Patrick’s Community Support Centre and the Fremantle Business Improvement District.

“We are thrilled with this result,” Bullers says.  “It was a fantastic evening – a really festive atmosphere, brilliant entertainment and delicious food.  And of course what’s become the traditional conclusion to the evening – dancing in the street!”

“It was incredible to see so many people coming out to support our community’s most vulnerable,” says Steve McDermott, CEO of St. Pat’s.  “These funds will enable us to support more individuals in need and to improve and expand our current services.  Our event sponsors – particularly PAV, Austal and Leeuwin Estate – were incredibly generous.  We are particularly grateful to The National Hotel for organizing this wonderful event…to have the support of Fremantle’s business community means so much to us.”

“I love working in Fremantle – it’s a very special place,” says Bullers.  “And one of the reasons for this is the way the community looks out for each other.  For me, as a business owner, it was really important to give back to the community where I live and work.”

The National Hotel provided all catering for the event, with their staff working long hours to provide the logistical support necessary to make the event a success.  “I’m really proud of the staff,” says Bullers.  “They really went above and beyond.  We also had help from around 80 volunteers from St. Pat’s which was fantastic.”

St. Pat’s provides more than 170 beds for women, men, youth and families in need, as well as a range of specialist services with care for mental health issues, addictions and financial problems.  The Day Centre in Fremantle offers warm meals every weekday, a comprehensive health clinic, an oral health clinic and emergency provisions such as clothing and footwear.
