Tina was 21-years-old when she first engaged with the Youth Place team, following three years of housing instability including coach surfing and rough sleeping on-and-off with her partner, which culminated in her receiving temporary accommodation at Tom Fisher House.

Tina and her partner were allocated a social housing property however ongoing domestic violence impacted her stability, despite existing connections with specialist support services. The violence only escalated after Tina fell pregnant, but with Youth Place’s support and advocacy she was able to separate from her partner.

The separation cut Tina off from her finances, but the Youth Place team were able to work with a family violence service who assisted Tina in relocating to a safer place, where she has been able to reconnect with family and give birth to her child.
