Located close to schools and amenities in central Kwinana, the completed development will deliver a range of one, two and three-bedroom homes accommodating a diverse range of households, including families with children and older women, with a focus on accessibility and flexibility.

The development will incorporate energy-efficient design features to improve comfort and reduce ongoing energy costs for tenants, including insulation, double glazing and solar panels.

The project is supported by the WA Government and Housing Australia, with additional philanthropic support from the Minderoo Foundation. G-living has been appointed as the builder.

St Pat’s CEO Michael Piu said the project represented an important milestone for both the not-for-profit community housing provider and the local community.

“Today we are celebrating what can be achieved when governments, community organisations and philanthropy share a commitment to creating better outcomes for people and communities,” Mr Piu said.

“Homelessness does not happen in isolation. It is the result of complex social, economic and systemic pressures that have been building for many years. While the challenges we face are significant, projects like this demonstrate that practical solutions are possible when we work together.”

Mr Piu said the development would provide more than housing, creating opportunities for people to build stable and fulfilling futures.

“We know the key to long-term housing stability is a combination of quality, affordable housing which adapts to people’s changing needs, and tailored support services to help people achieve long-term stability and independence.”

The development will include quality landscaping, communal and private open spaces, and fencing designed to integrate the development into the surrounding community and adjoining public open space.

“A home is more than four walls and a roof. It is the foundation for safety, wellbeing, recovery and connection to community,” Mr Piu said.

“Every house we build and every person we support to make it a home changes our community for the better.”
